I feel your pain, GrayFox33. My wife and I are big fans of buying used cars so we don't have a payment so nothing we have right now has remote start and our garage was built in 1950 so my Ram doesn't fit ('that's what she said').

Thank God I live in a town where the crime rate is insignificant.

you dont need to purchase a new car to have remote start, you can buy it at best buy and have them install it. Depending on where you live, like me up in the northeast, it's can be worth it.

I'm aware you can buy them aftermarket (and I wouldn't have them install it unless it's free because it's a simple install), but saving myself a 20 yard walk in the cold (freezing or not) isn't worth $220 to me... but I can see it being more worth it if you live in the northeast.

99% of the garages go to 1% of the drivers.

I'll just keep pushing my gas pedal and using my wipers for 15 minutes.

this will be my first winter sans garage and i am not looking forward to it.

my windshield actually fogged over more once i actually got in this morning and started driving anyway. i was looking out of a small hole in the middle of my windshield going through uptown for a good solid 6 minutes.

I got a garage but my truck won't fit anymore since I added a work bench and a bar.

^Ditto. My garage is essentially my workshop for my project-car. I'm not going to put it outside just so I can keep the fog/frost off an early-model Saturn with 160K miles on it.

My garage is taken up by a gym, so I just have to use my remote start.

Sounds like first world problems itt

My girlfriend's car gets the garage because one of the windows doesn't stay up properly and it's likely to get rained in sooner or later if we park it outside. My slightly nicer car gets to stay outside.

However, we have switched cars recently as hers is having some issues. So I don't have to scrape the windshield, but I get a car that is liable to stall on me while moving. Don't really think that's a win on my part.

I had a cheap, generic car cover from Walmart that I used before I had a garage. I preferred folding that up and putting it in the trunk to scraping windows on a cold morning. Couldn't use it if it rained though.

Nothing wrong with running outside, cranking the car, turning on the defrost, running back in the house, and letting the car warm for a few minutes.

not a great idea. the ice can damage the rubber on wiper blades, shredding them a bit over time if you do this continuously. so when it rains, you just smear the water, you don't really wipe it away. i learned this the hard way. nothing worse than driving on a major highway and not being able to see anything because the wipers are fucked.

BHS Im ready for the white bass run up the eno. It cant get here soon enough. Got me a little boat, new ultralight rigs and a new flyrod that im cant wait to try out. I bank fished it a few times last year and found a few real nice spots that a boat will be perfect for.
