To me, it's not impressive.

To me. this technology is late.

We'll be seeing robot combat troops soon enough.

We'll be seeing robot policemen soon enough.

Next time that guy pushes him again, he may get a push back. Or a solid punch in the face.

I think the cables are just so if it trips or falls, it doesn't damage itself

Man, if I was working on this research, I would buy at least one fake machine gun for every robot.

First practical application is going to be "war of the machines paintball", you just watch

There are thin cables that are attached to the shoulders in some parts of the video. They took them off at the very beginning and very end. One of the early shots from below also features the robot with red ribbon cables

The coil coming out its back is probably to connect it to power and brains and likely not load bearing.

These headless robots creep me out for some reason. Both this one and the BigDog. Why wan't they add some sort of a dummy head to them to make them a bit more appealing. I mean it doesn't have to look all cute like Asimo or something, but it doesn't need to look like Terminator meets Child's Play

Boston Dynamics plus the other seven robotics groups that Google purchased... the Nexus 6 better come with a personal android.
