Anyone been to this before? A friend was telling me about it last week and it sounds like it could be fun to watch.

Yeah my family lives in Wrightsville on the side of the island it runs by. Its worth driving down to see for sure. Some years are better than others, sometimes its a ton of boats and sometimes its just a few. Fireworks at the end are always amazing.
Why not go, have some dinner at Bluewater/Southbeach/Dockside/Fish House and then watch the Floatilla. Great time. 11/7/2011 3:20:43 PM |

Where are the best spots for viewing the boats while dealing with minimal crowds? 11/7/2011 9:04:06 PM |

I'll just tell you where *not* to go. Either bridge is packed, the restaurants on the water (unless you get there early), and around Seapath Marina.
You can go to the island on the sound side and normaly see it from the street. Dont walk on other peoples docks (they get pissed, ask me how I know). Prob best place is "Atlantic Marine" as there shouldnt be many people in the parking lot there. 11/7/2011 9:49:31 PM |

I've been once. It was fun to watch, but not worth a special trip in my opinion. 11/7/2011 9:54:21 PM |

If we go this year, it'll be a "staycation" of sorts. Drive down in the early afternoon, do some fishing, chill out, watch the flotilla, then drive home. Nothing crazy. 11/7/2011 9:57:45 PM |
