Anyone have a set of these on their truck or SUV? They haven't been around too long and the reviews seem mostly positive with some of the worst ones coming from quality control issues.
Looking for a new set of tires to replace my Pirelli Scorpion ATR.
Tire size is P275/55R20 which limits my choices and I want something with a more rugged tread, but not all the way to BFG AT KO.

bang for the buck you can't beat BFG... but their QC SUCKS!

yeah, that seems to be the deal with some drivers.
Honestly, all i ever ran on my XJ was BFGs and they performed great set after set. This is one reason i feel the bad reviews are just some fluke QC issues. 11/8/2011 12:09:51 PM |

My brother just got over 80k out of a set of Radial A/Ts on his 4th Gen 4Runner. I got over 65k out of the set I had and I was constantly making them sing around corners. Pricey, but I felt like I got my money's worth out of them. They sucked in muddy clay we have around here though. The treads would fill up with mud and turn into a slick in no time.

your MTR's were good but didn't those things wear faster than melted butter?

lol they did but that's only because i found out i could make rubber "snowballs" by doing burnouts and picking up the rubber on the road.
they lasted about 45k miles which was only 1.5 years

Should i stick with the stock width of 275 and just jump up to a 60 or 65 to gain an extra couple inches?

Preston and i have always thought that you should make your tires be somewhere between flush with the fenders and 1" outside them on the factory back-spacing we feel this looks best without sacrificing wheel bearings or making the vehicle look like Ross-Perot's head.
I'd say measure what room you have (horizontally between tire and outer most part of the fender) in MM add 25mm then double that and add it to the current width of the tire and that's the widest tire i'd put on it without changing fender flares, lifting etc.
Then i would add the vertical aspect ratio to gain more diameter from there but not exceed what fits the radius of the fenders.
That's my opinion without knowing your chassis very well so you may want to read any concerns about running that size tire from forums. 11/11/2011 9:41:07 AM |

yeah, looking more at pics online i think i'm going to stay with 275s. I agree with you about having wide tires stick out and with my truck still stock and no plans for a full lift there really is no reason to get something with a wide footprint.
so i can get a 275/60 which is a 33" tire or a 275/65 which is roughly 34"

that's an ideal size, but not a common one for 20" wheels.
the Goodyear Dura-Trac is one of two tires in that size i could get and they pose a $330/ea price tag.
