I don't think of the The Stand as a movie.

Although I wish they would hurry up and finish the latest movie version they've been working on.

I had to read it twice to appreciate it. The first time I read it I was pretty young. Even after reading the unabridged version, I still feel like it was too short for the expanse of the world he created.

^^same... i read it for the first time between my 8th and 9th grade year... just read all of the dark tower series, which made me decide to pick this up again.

^^that's what happened to me. I finished the Dark Tower and then went back and read the Stand. I also plan on reading 'Salem's Lot and a couple of the other books that were mentioned in the Dark Tower.
