8:40 p.m. EST, November 21, 2011 GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP)— Three people are dead and four are still in the hospital after a domestic affair resulted in a series of shootings in three different locations near Pleasant Garden on Sunday.
Mary Ann Holder, 36, is suspected of shooting six people and herself, said Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes. Holder was pronounced dead when she arrived at Moses Cone Hospital on Sunday.
The other dead victims are Holder's son, Robert "Dylan" Smith, 17, and Holder's niece, Hannaleigh Michelle Suttles, 8.
The four injured victims include Holder's younger son, Zachary Lee Smith, 14; and Holder's nephew, Richard "Ricky" Brian Suttles, 17. Both were in critical condition at a hospital as of 5 p.m. Monday.
Dylan Smith's girlfriend, Makayla Leigh Woods, 15, was still in the hospital Monday, but doctors said her condition has improved.
Randall Scott Lamb, 40, Holder's estranged boyfriend, suffered non life-threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition at Moses Cone.

Two guns were found in Holder's SUV, and deputies are still trying to figure out where the guns came from. Holder had no criminal record before Sunday's shootings.
Barnes said the shootings appear to have been connected to an affair between Holder and Lamb. Randall Lamb's wife, Jennifer, filed a restraining order against Holder in February, saying Holder was stalking her.
Jennifer wrote in court documents that Holder and Randall Lamb started an affair in 2008. The restraining order case was dismissed because neither the Lambs nor Holder appeared in court. Jennifer wrote in court documents that the Lambs were trying to work out their marriage.
Jennifer Lamb was getting ready to file alienation of affection charges against Holder, investigators said. Jennifer had already hired a lawyer, investigators said.
However, investigators believe Randall Lamb made arrangements to meet Holder in the GTCC Aviation Center parking lot on Sunday morning.
"There was an extreme, estranged relationship, to say the least," Barnes said. "We're looking at phone records, computer records and interviewing family and neighbors to find out why."
Barnes said the shooting is one of the worst incidents he has seen in his 30 years of law enforcement.
"We've got death, we've got drama, we've got a situation that basically nobody could imagine here in Guilford County. Nothing like this has ever happened during my career here," Barnes said." |
