I want to get my mom a small digital camera for the holidays, but I have noooo idea what's good in the pocket-size point-and-shoot market. Any suggestions?
And what should I get for my dad? He's into conservative TV and guns. And amateur radio. 11/22/2011 3:30:30 PM

i just got this camera for myself... it has a sick zoom, but is still compact. So far it takes awesome pictures, especially action shots (my first big usage was at a football game).

For still pictures the nighttime/darkness setting is good. Haven't tried it with the video. 11/22/2011 3:56:58 PM

NCSUam0s - Sweet, thanks. I'll check that one out!

I'm really not even sure... probably not more than $300? I don't want something cheap, but I'm not sure what a good camera will cost. Seems like they run from $50 on up, but I don't think I want a $100 one if it won't last or take great photos.

possibly. "what should I get for my mom for Christmas" vs "what should I get my mom for Christmas"... the first seems more grammatically correct to me, but I don't know for sure. 11/22/2011 4:41:43 PM

We are planning on treating ourselves to some new living room furniture
Still deciding between a few pieces though. Two of the frontrunners for the sofa are: (they would be upholstered in some sort of grey fabric)

Chocolate and flowers are usually acceptable. If you want to care more/spend more money, I'd go for something pretty yet versatile, like a nice scarf. iTunes gift cards are awesome, too. 11/23/2011 4:45:29 PM

I agree with a nice scarf or gloves. One Christmas, my BF got me a pair of cute Christmas knee socks each with a bottle of my favorite wine inside (his mom definitely helped with that gift). Kind of like this...

For a compact camera, go either Canon or Panasonic. I personally like Canons (I've had four) but the Lumix series are pretty good too. 11/29/2011 10:03:32 AM

Just make sure whatever camera you get her isn't one that uses AA batteries. Those things have the worst lag times. 11/29/2011 10:07:05 AM
