is that the same as a "commercial tag"?
I work downtown and have been parking in the commercial loading zone (i truly load and unload. sometimes a lot and sometimes not so much) for nearly 2 years now. i have watched the parking patrol people look at my tag and keep walking probably on numerous occasions. Well i got a ticket the other day so i walked it to park link and talked to the lady about it and she said i had to appeal it and it would be taken care of. Appeal got denied because it says my truck should have a business name on it or displays a valid NC commercial license plate. On the ticket for the tag type it says "COM" which i would think means commercial. i guess i will have to go again in the am.
also, while talking (there 5 minutes) to her she received 2 other complaints. i asked if it happens often and she said "no just seems like today."
to me it sounds like the rookie got some bad training to me... 11/27/2011 6:28:37 PM

My dad has a weight tag on his truck and my mom has one for the suburban. I think moving man size vehicles also get this tag.
I think commercial vehicles mean vehicles in which a CDL is required to operate: buses, dumptrucks, semis, limos, etc. 11/27/2011 6:31:03 PM

well i told the lady i had a "weighted tag" and she said that with that i didnt even need a business name on the side of the vehicle. seems strange that the parking patrol listed it as "com" on tag type.
also, in the remarks section it says "no activity" when she said that i asked her if they waited to see if i was unloading or loading and she says they dont wait.
what is it people? 11/27/2011 6:35:14 PM

no, a weighted tag is not necessarily a commercial tag
just get a vinyl sticker with your company name put on a large magnetic sheet and stick it on the door when you're in that unloading zone

[Edited on November 27, 2011 at 6:57 PM. Reason : main difference is 1 says "COMMERCIAL" and the other says "WEIGHTED"] 11/27/2011 6:49:21 PM

probably required for when a vehicle weighs or could possibly weigh more that a certain amount of poundages.
if it isn't considered commercial then it shouldn't say commercial on the ticket. I would think.
we will see what they say tomorrow i guess 11/27/2011 7:03:18 PM

that's correct. weighted tags are for vehicles that exceed some certain weight (i won't get into the details b/c it's ridiculous) so they can tax you more for driving heavier shit. the important thing here is they are for heavy shit, whether it be private or commercial.
