as for mayo v. ranch, i prefer ranch for dipping and mayo (ideally, miracle whip, but whatever) on a sandwich.

It helps to gradually increase the yogurt to mayo ratio until you get used to it.

I tried the greek yogurt with just the normal ranch packet... i thought it would be good but no. (not that i eat a ton of ranch anyway... i can't remember the last time i had any.

I didn't hate the seasoning, but it didn't taste anything like ranch.

I made some with a packet and Greek yogurt last week, thinned with milk. We both liked it. But I also make just about everything with Greek yogurt so I guess we're used to it.

i've never mixed the packet with mayo, only sour cream. sounds like it would be gross with mayo. the store bought ranch i like the most is a yogurt one, i think the brand is bolthouse.
