http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/01/us/federal-marijuana-classification-should-change-gregoire-and-chafee-say.html?src=tp&smid=fb-share

Quote :
"The governors want marijuana reclassified as a Schedule II controlled substance, which would put it in the same category as drugs like cocaine, opium and morphine. The federal government says that those drugs have a strong potential for abuse and addiction, but that they also have “some accepted medical use and may be prescribed, administered or dispensed for medical use.”

Such a classification could pave the way for pharmacies to dispense marijuana, in addition to the marijuana dispensaries that operate in a murky legal zone in many states.

“What we have out here on the ground is chaos,” Governor Gregoire said in an interview. “And in the midst of all the chaos we have patients who really either feel like they’re criminals or may be engaged in some criminal activity, and really are legitimate patients who want medicinal marijuana.

“If our people really want medicinal marijuana, then we need to do it right, we need to do it with safety, we need to do it with health in mind, and that’s best done in a process that we know works in this country — and that’s through a pharmacist.” "

yeaaaaaaaaaaa

getting reclassified as Sched II would be a huge step in proving the medicinal benefits and getting THC turned into a controlled medicine. The main reason why it hasn't so far is places like Pfizer would lose billions and they have their hands in congress.

However I think you should push something like this at the start or middle of a presidential term, not at the end of it.

If true, and I don't doubt it, the pharmaceutical companies are being short sighted. If legalized they could make good bank marketing patented strains.

That is IF they will let doctors in the US do double blind patient studies, in the UK it is already going on. Doctors are using hash oil to give their patients controlled dosages without any negative effects to the lungs. They have gotten people off pain killers using this, we are idiots for not allowing at least research to be done. That is what this article is mainly about, change it to Schedule II so that medical studies can be done; I mean honestly, who puts Meth/DMT/LSD/MDMA and Weed in the same category of drug... Then decide the Federal Law and quit pussy footing around with this in between grey area that has been created by the States vs the Feds.

I'm about to try two natural substances untouched by chemist recommended by a friend in Australia Arnica and Valiram.

So we'll see how this goes, I know for sure Arnica has known medical properties for inflammation and involving CNS.

My friend is permanently disabled from getting hit by a car, both hips were shattered a long with his right leg and left arm. He got off of liquid morphine using these and a few others. So it is bound to have at least some effect.

Again, I think the pharmaceutical companies are being foolish. There's $texas to be made in this and the smart companies will be the ones that push for legalization.

I wasn't disagreeing, but until THC is Sched II, nothing is happening on a Federal level.
