Educated people generally vote to the left, for obvious reasons.

WTF Huntsman just threw Europe under the bus..... If he wasn't out that was a final nail in the coffin.

I wish ron Paul would be less delicate and call the other people idiots, when that's what he means.

The people he needs to vote for him in Iowa don't much like Europe, leaving it out wont cost him there. And the people who he needs to vote for him want someone who can handle China, which is an area where he has some cred because of his experience as an ambassador.

His language about proactively managing the relationship in a positive way, rather than the more aggressive and reactionary language that others often use I think might actually cost him more than leaving out Europe.

Ron Paul is the only one that gives honest answers (as honest as he can be) and doesn't worry about catering to the retards in the crowd.

Given the options on the stage, I'm partial to Huntsman, but I'm glad Paul's voice is in the mix.

This debate would be maddening to watch if it wasn't for Paul.

It's cathartic that he points out the flaws in the others' reasoning.

I think that's why I love Ron Paul so much... Because he doesn't seem to give a what when it comes to people's reactions

I just wish I could see two sassy people behind him snapping their fingers in a Z every time he answers

Huntsman and Paul are also the only ones who seem to be cool with bringing the troops home, from what I've seen in past debates. For Huntsman it is because we've achieved as much as we realistically can, so it's time to come home. For Paul I think it's more because of his libertarian principles.

I often like that about him, but at the same time it certainly doesn't carry the presidential gravitas that you look for in the leader of the free world. I think Huntsman has it, or is at least closer to it. Romney often has it too, though I strongly hope he does not become president. Huntsman or Johnson (not on stage) or Karger (also not on stage) are all Republicans I could live with and Paul is someone whose ideas aren't all bad. But those are the only 4 that have crossed my radar that I can find anything to like about.

I agree on that point, even though I do think there is a difference between carrying yourself with the seriousness of the highest office in the land, and slickness. I think Romney has the slick thing going pretty often. I think Huntsman feels more serious than slick. And on rare occasion even Bachmann taps into seeming very presidential, which is kind of scary.

And now they're on to gays and abortion and attacking each other a little more. That was fun to watch.

Funny how much more civil the during-debate-discussions here in chit chat were than the soap box.

slickness is a virtue when dealing with other countries though.

It's hard to imagine, but a lot of the rest of the world still has "cowboy" leaders in their attitudes, and our president needs to be able to handle this.

but...

i always find it slightly amusing that the TWW consensus on these debates is always so different than the public at large.

A big spender but not that big

Quote :
"Our ruling:

The evidence supports Huntsman's underlying point -- that the U.S. spends far more than other countries on defense, but it falls short of his claim that U.S. spending exceeds that of all other countries combined. International research shows that United States’ defense funds make up between 40 and 45 percent of the world’s total military spending. We rate Huntsman’s claim Mostly False.

these are my feelings exactly.

i agree with a tremendous amount of what Paul says, and even when i don't agree, at least he sincerely portrays himself as telling the truth, and not just some political bullshit spin.

perry is a fucking lunatic and represents the absolute worst of the GOP. the evangelical wing does nothing but alienate a minority of its base and virtually all independents.

I think Christy would have had a chance of beating Obama. I don't see any of the current folks that actually stand a chance of winning the nomination getting that far. It kind of blows my mind Gingrich is a top contender right now. I guess everybody has already forgotten about all his shenanigans in the 90s.
