Amazing.
In fact, they are formed by the same fluid interactions that form tsunamis in the oceans; lighter liquid but faster-moving liquid dragging along on the surface of a denser slower-moving liquid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin%E2%80%93Helmholtz_instability
On that note, here is the one of the most spectacular natural/wildlife phenomenon ever:
Murmuration

Starlings are freaky birds. I think they're where Hitchcock got his movie idea initially. 12/20/2011 10:28:07 AM

Actually he got the idea from a short story called "The Birds"

Quote : | "The story was inspired by the author seeing a man ploughing a field while seagulls were wheeling and diving above him; Du Maurier developed the idea of these birds becoming hostile and attacking.[1] It is implied that the East Wind is connected to the birds' attackāa possible reference to the threat of Communism and the Cold War in which the USA and UK were embroiled in the 1950s and '60s" |
lol I might have to read this story. 12/20/2011 10:34:37 AM

I took a film & literature class at State where we would read a book then watch the movie adaptation.
Pretty cool class.
[Edited on December 20, 2011 at 10:38 AM. Reason : That's where I read this story and watched the movie, not just listing random classes i took lol] 12/20/2011 10:37:11 AM
