If you're ever feeling fancy and want to make a really good barbecue sauce, this one comes from Magnolia Grill:

Quote :
"3 cups chicken stock or canned low-salt chicken broth
1 cup dry white wine
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup mild-flavored (light) molasses
1/4 cup chopped fresh tomato
3 tablespoons minced shallots
2 tablespoons chopped pitted dates
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper

Combine all ingredients in heavy large saucepan. Boil until reduced to 1 1/2 cups, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and chill. Bring to simmer before serving.)

Made it a couple years ago and it beat the pants off any of the bottles of sauce in the supermarket.
