For those of us that actually make these lists.
I think of these things more in terms of projects or goals, rather than resolutions.
Mine:
-professional: continue to stay in nursing school and keep my tuition scholarship, continue working as a research tech
-get back into training- I'm going to kickstart with a 21-day yoga challenge with 2 of my female friends. I'd like to do a few cyclocross races before the season completely ends end of Jan., and get back into a tri training cycle. I might race in MTB in summer, who knows.
-projects- learn to shoot with my shotgun, continue practicing sax for ska band, and keep up my gardening/sewing/chicken rearing.
-date night- make it a point to spend 1 night/week with boyfriend at Retrofantasma or a rock show.

I posted this in the chit chat thread, but I will post here too:

Pay down student loans as fast as possible. 5. Make a baby. 6. Be sitting here this time next year, with a cancer-free Dad. This is the most important. But it is last on the list because there isn't much I can do to make it happen. I can just stick my light blue ribbon on the car and offer support and research my fingers off." |

I am going to try and visit most all of my friends who are still relatively close. In particular my friends in Raleigh/Greensboro because after my AT thru-hike in 2013 I am moving to Boone and will likely never see most of them again. 12/27/2011 3:16:00 PM |

Not a resolution per se, but I have three things I want to work on. 1) I'm hoping to maintain a healthier weight, tone up a bit and otherwise just be more fit/healthy. I'm going to enter the beach body challenge to keep me motivated. 2) the way I spend my personal allowance is ridiculous. I am planning to pull out X per month in cash that way I'll hopefully budget better by not using my debit card so willy nilly for personal purchases (girls' night, movies, lunch dates, etc). 3) continue to get out and meet new people in hopes to make new friends that are also parents. 12/27/2011 11:59:20 PM |

One more...
4) this post excluded...no more surfing the Internet before bed in bed. It's become like watching TV before bed in bed was for me. Some nights I end up staying on too long, missing the tired window, thus staying up later than intended. Now there's the added element of when i finally do put the phone/tablet down, just when I am about to fall asleep the baby wakes up. Not good. Like tonight I was in bed at 9:45...terrible. No more.
With that...g'night. 1/3/2012 12:34:15 AM |

Do a few around the house projects I've had planned, be supportive of my husband as he completes his PhD and looks for a job, be really good at my job that I got back in August, eat a little healthier, stay more politically engaged in general, and help organize some anti-amendment events leading up to this May specifically, and go on at least one of the trips I've been planning for a while but keep delaying for more practical matters. 1/3/2012 4:40:27 AM |

already cut the person, will look at adding two
another is to use "interesting" as little as possible, as it does a very poor job as a description, implying neither positive or negative feeling.

Ehhhhh...I've never been good at this. I'd rather just let things ride and not try to force anything.
Career-related: I'm going to learn some SQL, which can easily be applied to my current position.
Fitness: Going to continue getting stronger. Specific weights aren't too important, as long as I'm adding another rep/weight to the big lifts every week, I'm making progress. I'll try to master the power clean and improve my vertical jump.
Also starting a cut from a peak of 218 (taken after a weekend of hardcore feasting) to as low as 185.
Relationships: Continue making friends, be a positive influence in my friends' lives. Currently seeing someone, we seem to be a great fit. I don't know what I want long-term, but my goal in dating is to always leave someone better off than when I met them. More generally, I'd like to get better at connecting with people.
I'll be moving out of a house (with 4 roommates, lol) into my own place in February. I believe this will reduce the strain on friendships that comes with seeing people every single day. At the same time, I'll have to make more of an effort to maintain these relationships.
Misc: Get better at guitar, continue developing post-rock/math-rock project with a good friend of mine
Politics: I'll be working hard to get Ron Paul into the White House
