In order to pick up an EE degree as a CPE major, I add one EE elective (makes sense) and one technical elective (why?). Technical electives are classes from MAE, ISE, NE, etc.

I haven't asked Townsend to explain why, but she said my plan was correct. I still have a hard time believing it though because it doesn't make any sense.

Because every engineering major requires tech electives. There is no explanation. Just like how we're forced to take 21 CHASS hours. Go with MAE206 statics, your easiest option.

thats what I did, what an easy course compared to all the other horseshit I had to go through

Go with ne419. My roommate hadn't even matriculated and he got an A+ in there

NE419 and MAT200 are the easiest, without a doubt.

Do it for sure. A lot of people don't really understand what computer engineering is so having an EE will provide you with more opportunities.

Picking a major isn't the end of your engineering specialization. You should have a direction or an area of interest more specific than your major. Such an area of interest would ideally touch on a real industry that you can get a job in.

Any engineer who has a clear direction will have a long list of inter-department engineering classes that are be relevant to their interests.

But to the extent that students still take NE 419 because a friend told them it was easy, I agree, this is bull crap.

^ Normally, I would agree with the above but I think its different for CpEs. The reason being is that they have already had classes in both electrical engineer, computer engineering and computer science. This influence provides more experience than these other electives in terms of identifying a field and industry in which they can work.

I'm still 2 classes away from a CPE degree I'd never use.

oh well.

CPE is essentially EE with a specialization in computer. I'm going to be in the navy for 5 - 10 years after I graduate so I'm not real concerned with targeting a specific job, I was thinking I'd go to grad school after navy before I do any engineering

do mat200 (intro to material science) instead of statics.

I took 3 cross engineering electives and those are the two i liked the most and found the easiest.

I don't think MAT200 is a possibility, I might just do ISE 311 because econ is interesting.

ISE 311 Engineering Economic Analysis 3.00
MAE 301 Engineering Thermodynamics I 3.00
MAE 302 Engineering Thermodynamics II 3.00

I took NE419 as well and hated it, it was taught terribly and the book was pretty awful

Take ise311, shit is easy and knowing basics like net present value, future present value, etc, will most likely be something you'll never use.

Take ne419 with whoever taught it this fall. His hw / exams are the same questions every single semester with different values + some very easy conceptual questions. He is more concerned with students learning basics than anything else. Take material science 201. These are the easiest. If you by chance are retarded and decide to take statics, do not take pour-ghaz. He is the worst teacher I have ever had in any subject. He wastes class making us try to figure out shit he hasn't explained yet and then emails handwritten definities of shit scanned for the hw that is due. Btw in statics there are 3 hws a week. I got an F in the class, but I stopped going after like september and didn't take the final. Fuck that class. The others are easy I believe the ne dude is nissard

This is that materials class, isn't it? FUCK THAT SHIT. It's only easy because they give you old tests from which the questions will be pulled.
