Not wanting Duke and Crapel Hell lumped in with a story about Raleigh isn't reading failure. I get the whole RTP connection; however, none of these schools are really within RTP anyways.

^^^

Because the mountains suck, the beach sucks, there is no good ethnic food (except maybe Thai), the jobs are all lame and corporate-y, and there is little to do on weekends other than get wasted at the same 2-3 restauranteurs' places.

At least that's why I left.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering transferring in 6-12 months. Looking mostly midwest and west with the exception of California. I was actually researching Boise the other day as well as Phoenix...

Five years in Raleigh and I never ate anything but Fountain and Snoopy's

Parts are not that bad. It's turned into a hipster mecca like Brooklyn and you can be in Muir woods or wine country in like 45 minutes.

You under estimate the power of PR. A couple of high dollar bottles of wine, hookers, and nice dinners and your city can be #1 too.

Hatem and Empire has a brilliant marketing machine, and I'm sure they are at least in part responsible for this.

I like all the comments to that article. So many people complaining about why X town wasn't chosen and how it's a tragedy.

I want to live in a city with the car friendliness and affordability of Raleigh and convenience, culture and climate of NYC.

Where is this place?

Raleigh also made #1 in the "gas guzzling cities" list with Charlotte #2 and the Triad #4
