'sketch of lake and mountains' - c. 1870. the artist would have been about 14 years old.


'rosina' - 1878


'portrait of madame X' - 1884. this was sargent's personal favorite of all his works. however, his reputation was ruined in paris after its original exhibition due to its 'sexual nature' at the time.


'carnation, lily, lily, rose' - 1885-86


'edward augustus silsbee' - 1889. the insatiable demand for portraits, which sargent was famous for, led to his creation of hundreds of charcoal portraits. called 'mugs' by sargent himself, he could complete one of these portraits in around two hours.


'miss eden' - 1905 watercolor ( )
