I don't quite understand this movement of people. Do they have a cause or are they just trying to get attention with the way they dress and talk? Angst? Anti-establishment? Trying not to be normal but then become a norm as one?

"Goth" is just like "hip hop" or "punk". . .it's a style associated with its music. Goth sprang up from the Gothic Rock music scene. It is also influenced by 19th Century Gothic Literature, which is rich with a dark romanticized imagery and appreciation of the sublime.

I was the kid with a nofx shirt or dropkick murphey's shirt with blood/sweat/grime stains from every show i'd been to on it....

no wonder i didn't have a girlfriend... lol
