I've enjoyed the demo more than skyrim. After playing the 90min or so of demo content, I'm buying it.

It looked pretty cool. I'm curious about the last bit with them adding content to make it more like an MMO.

I love the idea of breaking away from classes though I worry it'll suffer from the Fallout/Oblivion issue of "I specialized in something that doesn't help me."

from what i've read from guys that have played the demo, they say it is ALOT like FABLE, but a ton better. They say it plays like what Fable was portrayed/should have played like.

I'm curious as to why the possibility of it being multiplayer is under-wraps. That's kind of a pretty big part of a game--I feel like if they were going to do it we'd know about it this far in development.

I've had my eye on this game for a long time, and I can't wait for February because of it.

It's like Skyrim with an actual combat system and Fable without resorting to farting in your conversations.

^^In the G4TV gameplay demo, they said that in began as an MMO but switched to a single-player campaign. I think that the future multiplayer components will depend upon the success of the IP.

I believe this is it: http://www.g4tv.com/videos/53926/kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning-gameplay-preview/

I tried the demo on my desktop and it seems to have a major issue with the latest AMD video drivers. the game is all black besides the hud with my 6950, runs perfect on my gts250

I wouldn't worry too much, its just a demo

BTW for those that don't know...downloading the demo will get you some ME3 inspired items in KoAR and some KoAR items in ME3

Played through the demo as a rogue. It was pretty cool. Definitely feels somewhere between Dragon Age 2 and Fable 2. I could see playing through it.

You could take a similar route in Dragon Age. I think the class was "arcane warrior." You basically used your own magic to buff your strength and HP

I played the demo but I'm still on the fence. It didn't really have the feeling of a "must-have" game but I'll probably get because it looks like it'll have some good replay value and I like these types of RPGs.

Interestingly, Curt Schilling owns 38 studios. A video game by Curt Schilling. Crazy.

the only thing that turns me off about the game is a way to lock on to a target. when you have an AE ability, it's real easy to aggro the town.

Since Final Fantasy XIII-2 appears to be a flaming pile of shit, I'm thinking about picking this up. It got 5/5 stars from Joystiq. I'll check out the demo sometime.

I'm going to have to spend at least two points in the might category so I can try on the Mass Effect armor. I hope they made a sexy version for the female characters.

should i buy this? i was sold before i read some reviews, but now i'm concerned about the generic nature of the story and quests.

It's about as generic as other games of the genre are generic. You'll recognize all the familiar tropes. You'll pick up colored loot. Get quests every 10 minutes.

However, the combat is awesome IMO. As is the character class/military-class system. And I happen to really enjoy clearing dungeons and getting treasure. The art I've seen so far has been impressive, although it is in the cartoony vein of the genre and I know some folks don't like that. Not sure why though.

I'm only like 7 hours in but I've enjoyed it. Like I said before, delicious candy.

Military class? fucking ipad autocorrect

that should read multi-class.

voice acting is pretty rad too. Don't let reviews discourage you if you played the demo and enjoyed it. People always have to find something to criticize.

you can still play the demo to get the bonus loot if you haven't bought the game yet. and the combat is really really awesome.

prob cause they're also developing a MMO based off the same world currently. I really hope they dont wait for that for multiplayer tho

I know I'll be agonizing constantly over whether or not I should clear my fate (class points) and start over. Sometimes I like wading into things with my sword and others I dig pelting from afar with spells. Good thing I dont have to decide!

The AI is REALLY smart for this kind of game though. Even on normal mode the groups are always trying to flank me and dart in while I focus on one of their buddies. Makes learning the timing of your shield/dodge really important.

Also, just a peeve of mine about some of the critic reviews (and user reviews)...this game is not linear. I will conceed that there is a logical zoning progression, but the world is huge and you have hours worth of exploration to even discover one of the several zones. Go play FFXIII and then we can talk about linear. /nerdrant

Anyways...just glad I have a long weekend to really get into this game...can't wait!

Also, for anyone one the fence about getting this game, if you have the rig to play it spring for the PC version with an Xbox controller...graphically superior, but the gameplay definitely favors having a controller.

Yep, pretty sure you guys should check this shit out.

Folks can say generic, but I prefer to think of it more as the finest elements of RPG gameplay distilled down to their very essence, in some sort of crystalline form. That you smoke.

I'm only playing this demo for the ME3 armor and weapon

Do I need to get it through Origin or can I get them if I use Steam. I'm holding off on installing Origin as long as possible (which will probably be until next week since the ME3 demo comes out)

you can get it through steam. you have to set up an origins account when you start the demo. so it connects through there. I installed origin just incase but it didnt change my problem. it seems the EA servers are getting crushed by logins so they're like broken for reckoning atm. can't get your me3 shit until ea gets their act together

I find this game to be very generic. I've completed the walkthrough first part and went down in some mine and found some Kobolds, but overall I'm not impressed yet.

For those of you who are a bit farther along, what are you choosing for your level ups? Smithing and Alchemy seem good, but I'm afraid that's carryover from having just finished Skyrim.

I'm playing but it's hard. It feels like wow questing in that the main story arc is mostly non-existent in comparison to all the side quests. At first I listened to the dialogue, now I skip through it all and just look for the circles on the map. I just got to the giant multi-layer city and cleared most of it in a couple hours but I'm growing tired of gathering
