But why do we really care about what's going on in Grenada? There's a specific reason why we're so concerned-- specifically, why President Reagan was concerned. Yes, sir?

Because they might have joined armies and taken over the US.

OK, so we have Cuba, we have Grenada, and there's also Nicaragua at the time that are all Communist, and they're kind of close to the United States. So it could be that it causes a problem for the United States if they were to come to us and wanted to maybe make us Communist, right?"

That is a fantastic segment...I just wish they would stop repeating episodes/segments all the time.

NUTMEG IS NOT THE QUESTION!

Capitalism wouldn't collapse if Grenada were to remain revolutionary...
they invaded Grenada because they were serving notice to the people of the Caribbean and to the people of Latin America and to the people of the world that you cannot drop out of the client-state free market system.

That if you tried to take an independent source, that if use your land, your labor, your resources and your capital and your markets in a different way - in a collectivist way - if you use them to benefit the needs of your people rather than to be milked like a cow by foreign investors... if you do that, THIS is what's going to happen to you.

I've only heard This American Life once, and it was the story of Mike Birbiglia pulling out in front of a drunk driver and getting t-boned and then complaining about how it wasn't his fault because the other driver was drunk, even though he pulled out right in front of him. He goes on and on about how unfair the world is because he has to pay for the other guy's car, but the whole time I was thinking "You pulled out in front of him, so it's your fault you ass." It really annoyed me how he was trying to assert that the other driver being drunk negated his own carelessness.

I liked the segment about the school where the kids vote on rules & stuff. I loved the kid who yelled "WHAT THE HELL IS A WHORE?!" right in the middle of the meeting. Awesome.
