Breifcase /= bookbag

Business appropriate only. (bookbags never are, unless you're an intern, and even then it's a stretch)

What's your budget?

I have everything from Tumi & Timbuktu to Coach, Cole Haan & Jack George's (all brand offer men's & women's "computer" or work type bags)

I agree that backpacks aren't professional. Not to say that almost everyone I know at work carries one, I refuse because I'm already young & one of the only females, I refuse to look juvenile in my accessories.

I also have an obsession with bags (including purses but not limited to!)

Let me get this thread off topic

I'm glad I don't have a job where I have to worry about the professionalism of my backpack

My sister bought that for me since my company only gave us laptop backpacks which as mentioned before doesn't exactly look professional. I'm surprised it's held up as well as it did for the past few years but the leather feel, durability, and look are so good a coworker bought one too. It holds a 17" laptop and charger/mouse/gear easily but anything more than a binder or small stack of papers to go with it all and you might not have room for any more items. Got two large pockets for notepads, pens, business cards, etc.

I need a reason to buy the Marc by Marc laptop bag I've been drooling over for a couple years now....my job doesn't give me that excuse just yet.

Is there an outlet mall near you?? I got a briefcase similar to this:

http://www.wilsonsleather.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3965574&cp=2446816.2019559.11621848&parentPage=family

but a little more "rustic" looking at a Wilson's leather outlet store a few years back. It was listed at something like $140 and I ended up getting it for $35 at a Black Friday sale. Obviously you're not going to get that kind of every day deal, but they have some great briefcase there for around or under a $100.

Actually...this is what mine looks more like...but not as bright a brown:

So you can find some good ones at an Office Depot/Staples as well.

I would highly, highly recommend the following two:

http://www.undfind.com/

http://www.onabags.com/

Small companies with insane customer service. Couldn't recommend 'em more.

i have Beakgaard computer bag that I love but unfortunately the company went under. If you could find one I totally recommend it. Great leather, clean lines, bright colors but not to fussy

I'm glad my job doesn't require that I carry a laptop. I can do most of my important day off type stuff on my smartphone.
