yeah...it definitely hit under 2 dollars/gal for a while because i remember being astounded at it being so cheap. it seems a lot of people don't remember, though, and i DEFINITELY don't remember it being that low for ^that long

I'm actually surprised so few of y'all remember that.

Investment banks, rather than refiners were gobbling up oil during the initial run up to $147 a barrel and hoarding it. once it became too costly to store they had to unload it, and the surplus drove prices down quickly and temporarily.
