True, but at least in that situation you are fully aware of what has transpired and can rectify the situation. "Sorry for shitting on your hand, dude."

In the former situation, you don't know how loud it was, and you don't know who was walking by at the time. It's a gamble where the odds are dependent on a myriad of variables and the outcome is shrouded in mystery.

farting in my office is always a dangerous game.

many a time i have farted while enjoying the solitude of my office only to have someone swing by to ask me a question.

i once tried to play it off like there was some old food in my trash can, but she wasn't buying it.

this is similar to the elevator going down fart. you never know if you'll make it to your destination without stopping at an intervening floor. yesterday, i did not make it.
