Could someone please go snatch the last episode of the Jeopardy College Championship and make a GIF of the face the girl makes when she wins. Then, of the robot arms. I will work on posting a still image for reference as soon as possible. 2/14/2012 7:30:50 PM

Here's a first pass. It doesn't look so hot since I ended up scaling it 3x to get it under 2MB. I'll give it another go and see if I can make it better.

You doing this yourself, or through a website? I thought it would be cool to just loop the first part where she makes the crazy eyes.

I think i can remove the jumpyness in the wolf image by inverting the frames and attaching them to the end of the gif; running it forwards and then backwards so the when it loops it goes from frame 2 to 1 and then back to 2, this is where ive gotten so far:

The weird headbob is because the wolves arent in the middle of their bobs on the middle frame (sorry there are probably better words to explain this) Ill try playing around with it tomorrow and see if I can clean it up some more

Here is about the best i can do with it. I had to make it smaller so that imgur would take it but i can send the original gif and/or the frames if someone wants them.

@aph319, I can do a write up on what i did if you are interested? really the hardest part for me is extracting the frames out of the video and you did that. I just took your gif and played around with it in gimp
^ Thanks
I enjoy this kind of stuff as long as its just gifs and not full video files so yaw make some more requests and ill work on them when i can 2/18/2012 10:24:15 PM

Ill just throw it in here so anyone who wants can see it. Both IrfanView and GIMP are free in case someone doesnt have either. There might be better ways to do some of this (I am self taught) so Id love to hear new ways of doing things
First you want to separate the gif into frames. IrfanView will do this. So open the gif with that and go to options -> extract all frames. I would save everything to a desktop folder because you are going to be accessing it a lot.
Now we need to rename all the frames. Just a basic number with the first frame being 1 and counting up from there. (actually as long you count in increments of 1 you can start from wherever you want)
Next we are going to add all but frames 22 and 1 to the folder by copying then renaming them. For example frame 21 will be copied and renamed to 23. 20 will be copied and renamed as 24 ... 2 should be copied and renamed 42. This will create smooth loop with no jumps since it will just continually run the frames forwards, then backwards.
A good way to check and see how the gif will look is to open frame 1 with preview (i think vista and windows 7 both have this) then just quickly press the next picture button. xp users can use a different program or just compile the gif as is. If you can see the problem Ill describe later with preview then skip ahead to how i fix it, if not keep going and just make the gif.
Now make the actual gif by opening frame 1 with gimp. Go the Video drop down, then "frames to image". This next menu should be ok as is and going from frame 1 to frame 42 so press ok. In the new box with the picture of frame 1 that pops up, save the image as a gif file. To do this just "save as" then add ".gif" to the file name. When the new box pops up, be sure to click the "save as animation" bubble, then "export". The only thing you might want to change here is the delay between the frames I think I made it 175, but you can resave and change it if it's too fast or slow.
Now click save and open the file. If everything went according to plan then we should have a gif that looks like my first attempt.
***SKIT TO HERE IF YOU DIDNT MAKE THE 1ST GIF***
If everything went according to plan then we should have a gif that looks like my first attempt. Im not sure the best way to explain why it looks so weird but hopefully this paint image will help

The problem is that at the end of our gif, the dogs are not at the end of their bobs so the small leftover piece as they start back down/over gets reversed and since its so small, the image looks weird. Images A and B are the 1st attempt, Images C and D are what we are about to do.
SO, now the frames will need to be looked at so we can make the end frames the maximum/minimum. In the middle, 19 through 25 need to be removed. At the ends 1-3 need to be removed and 40-43 should be removed. (actually I left 40 but now that im going back i think it might look better without it) so make a copy of all the frames (in case you decide you want to replace one of the frames) and in a different folder, paste the frames and delete the ones you dont want.
Since in order to compile the gif, the file names need to be continuous, start at 26 and rename everything so that you have 4-32 (or 33)
Now remake the gif by opening 4 with gimp, Video -> "frames to image" -> ok, in new window save as a ".gif" file ( in case you skipped making the 1st gif just put .gif in the file name), click save, click "save as animation" -> export -> adjust frame delay -> save
Hopefully you now have my final product 2/19/2012 12:08:47 AM

WOW, super detailed post. Thanks for the lesson. I'll give this a try later and see if I can make it look like yours.
The only thing I do differently is use the GIMP Animation Package (GAP) that takes .mp4 files and splits them into frames and numbers them for you. It might be a little time saver on the front end but if you have to go in and add frames manually, it might beneficial to do it your way. 2/19/2012 1:31:59 AM

Ok, I tried adding more frames by working with the "ping-pong" effect. Basically just adding a second set of frames but in reverse order. As a result of more frames, I had to make the image smaller but it definitely came out better than the ones I made before.
