did a summer abroad in Hangzhou, China in 2008. it was pretty awesome, especially towards the end because I made a bunch of friends from all over the place and started finding non-Chinese restaurants (contrary to popular belief, the Chinese food you get in the US does not exist over there) because rice and eggplant gets old after a while. it was super cheap and had lots to do. Chinese people also stare at you and come up asking to take pictures with you, feels like you're a celebrity. they fucking love Americans. the toilets suck, however.
