I agree with the OP that Danica Patrick is basically the Anna Kournikova of racing, except she doesn't look as good and probably doesn't perform to the same caliber. She is decent enough that she doesn't get completely laughed out of competition but that's about it.

Danica won an IndyCar race in 2008, so she's got one up on Kournikova there.

She does seem to crash her stock cars at a decent clip, but she hadn't done any closed wheel racing prior to a year ago. Yesterday she got punted by her teammate, so no fault there. In general, she's always been good about not crashing; in IndyCar she holds the record for consecutive finishes by a large margin.

maybe so, but in general in NASCAR, she's always been good about not crashing because she's usually driving slower than everyone else and getting lapped

I think she is a legit driver in a short period of time she has proven to be the best woman nascar driver ever. She will never be an elite driver and will probaly never win a race but really deserves the publicity she has been getting. She won an IRL race in Japan against a very formidable field (Castronevus, Dixon, Weldon, Kanaan, Carpenter, Hunter-Rahal, Briscoe) in the 4th best racing series in the world, buut if Dario Franchitti had been in that race it probaly would have been a different story
