You should never feel embarrassed to ask your doctor anything. Their field of study is the human body in all its various forms.

If I asked my doctor a question and they were embarrassed or uncomfortable with me asking, I would find a new doctor. You should be able to ask them anything...

I do think c-section can be over prescribed these days. I do think that is a personal decision too so I don't judge when women have them done.

I have them done because I am type I diabetic and my babies can't go past 39 weeks gestational.

Tearing often occurs because modern labor is usually augmented by drugs to speed things along. The downside to speeding things up is that the labor is (obviously) faster and more intense, not giving the body enough time to naturally prepare itself to expel a baby.

Also, if you're worried about tearing, you should do what you're told and practice! They recommend that you start softening things up down there with massage in your last trimester.

And yeah, my two were both C-section babies because my little ones like to come into the world butt first, so I have nothing that I can impart other than, after having babies, if you gotta pee, get thyself to the bathroom ASAP or you will be standing in a puddle.

My friend just had a baby at a birthing center and her little girl was delivered by a midwife. The midwife did cut her down there because her baby was over 10lbs. But for the most part, I am pretty sure they try REALLY hard not to snip down there during birth bc of what bb said, it must take a lot to tear down there. It is ultra stretchy.
