so we gave our dog her monthly heartworm medicine like an hour ago and she ate alot of food aftewards. in the last 30 minutes she's thrown up 7 times and even shit randomly while throwing up. she's panting heavily but not wimpering or crying. just a bad reaction to the meds or vet visit? 3/14/2012 10:48:35 PM |

My recommendation is call the vet and see what they say. Although, at this hour, you'll probably have to call an emergency vet. But they should be able to give you some basic advice, signs to watch out for, and thoughts on what crosses the line for bringing the pet in. Here are some in the area:

not in the area but thanks for the reply. we double checked the medicine and it lists diarrhea and vomiting within 24 hours happens 1% of the time. doesn't list it as a serious side effect - does list anorexia as a side effect though, wtf... 3/14/2012 11:02:55 PM |

^^ I would def call. They'll probably tell you to come in but still. Honestly, I've been to VSH N. Raleigh and their fees aren't nearly as bad as you'd think. 3/14/2012 11:14:35 PM |

Just keep an eye on her, and make sure she's eating and drinking as normal. Sluggishness shouldn't be ignored. 3/14/2012 11:48:57 PM |
