it seems like there is a new trendy rap cadence
i wish i could explain it in a thread.
its like semi-rapid delivery and at the end of the line they draw out the last two or so words
kinda like in that Wale song the part where he says "flat drinks we call a cups" but he does that delivery for multiple bars
am i the only one that has noticed this trend??? AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO CARES 4/3/2012 5:39:26 PM

"sung rhythmic style" is what I think you're trying to describe.

I think I know what you're talking about. Kanye does in "Stronger" where he raps normal but he hires a white guy to repeat HARDER FASTER BIGGER STRONGER in the background. 4/3/2012 5:44:32 PM

let's get a poetry nerd in here to determine what kind of pentameter we have here
can I get a sample of the music you're talking about so I can determine its prosody? 4/3/2012 5:45:57 PM

pretty much this entire song...but it is especially prominent in the 2nd verse.

theroastedpepperssweettomatoes heir-loom weonthebeachrestinpeepswein Can-cun flygirlycurlyhairgettinranthrough weintheshowergimmeheadsham-poo
its like the third bar in the ugh...i guess stanza...theyll speed rap through and then resume dragging out the syllables on the fourth bar
now that surely makes sense

yeah i get this impression a little bit as well. it definitely seems like they are trying to really make sure you hear the punchline...putting extra emphasis on it. 4/3/2012 6:16:43 PM

im sort of on the fence with it
i do feel like it accentuates weak punchlines, its much much better than the young money style rhyming though 4/3/2012 10:22:49 PM
