Just like last year the position players are going to be solid for the Sox. There is no way that when Crawford gets back into the lineup that he produces worse than last year. Cody Ross could have a monster season, as his swing is tailor made for the monster.

Pitching depth however is obviously a major concern. It is worrisome to think that Doubront and Bard are the 4 and 5 pitchers but they can produce better than Dice K and Lackey did last year. I firmly believe that Dice K will be extremely important to this team upon his arrival back from injury.

85-90 wins for the Sox this year. Not sure if it will be enough to nab one of the 2 wild card spots though.

I don't like the Red Sox (Phillies fan), but I do love Bobby V. And Cody Ross has looked great so far this year.

I've never been this concerned about a Sox team before. No legit 4 or 5 starters, and a bullpen that looks extremely shaky. And even though Ross has hit very well in Spring Training, we're starting Cody Ross and Ryan Sweeney (until Crawford's back) in our corner OF spots because of the contracts Theo gave to Crawford and Lackey.

It would've been nice to see what Bailey could do though, cannot believe he was our biggest offseason acquisition and is out until after the break. At least it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out with guys trying to win spots in the rotation/pen/starting lineup for the first month or so.

I'll be at Fenway to see Sox v Rays on April 15. I've been on the stadium tour before but haven't yet seen a live game so I'm really looking forward to it.

So glad Youkilis is back, I think his absence at the end of the season was downplayed last year.

is that a record for most HR given up by one pitcher in a single game?

with the abomination of a pitching staff that you guys have, you'll have a tough time finishing 3rd in the AL East. Toronto looks like they're going to win 90 games this year

Beckett was great through July last year, but since '07 he hasn't been close to an ace pitcher. There's a lot of money tied up in the staff between Dice-K, Lackey and Beckett and it would've been nice for Cherington to have some flexibility in the budget to improve a staff that was pretty awful last year too.

make sure you get in on it early this year, huh? last year you hid until the end of season collapse. it must suck to be so tormented by a sports team and their fans. i don't even give as much a shit about the yankees as you do here. here's to a season of pink-hatted bitches raining on your parade, win or lose

Tormented is not really the word, but it is pretty annoying. How are you winning a game right now?

PS a little less annoying with Papelbon gone. I read something not long ago that he's already running his mouth down in Philly; another despicable team...

Their pitching is the most awful tragedy aside from sone dude letting his girlfriend draft fantasy players. That being said, I mean, there's no way a team with essentially limitless spending can avoid the problem for too long, right? And that being said I see them winning 70-80 games this year...

Their farm system is depleted. They do not have many pieces that they could trade at this point. Too much money tied up in aging talent.

Hey, if they get another win against the Rays at home this year, they'll match their season high from last year!

Current Redsox game is in the hands of the bullpen. Go ahead and mark that down as a loss.

Going to be hard to rebound from last year with this.

Imagine how much easier it would've been for Cherington to address pitching issues in the offseason if he didn't have at least one of the Crawford and Lackey contracts on the books. It's absurd how much money is tied up on the DL right now.
