The two arent even in the same genre. Pearl Jam is a grunge/post grunge band and AIC is metal. And AIC kicks the ass of PJ any day of the week. The only good PJ album was 10. Zombie Layne Stanley kicks Eddies pretty boy ass

AIC has a shit ton of good songs, they just werent singles. AIC classifies themselves as a metal band more so than grunge, according to Jerry Cantrell. Its apples to oranges.

You are fucking high. Dirt has got to be one of the best rock albums ever made, and certainly one of the very top-tier albums of the 1990s.

You are also fucking high. Vs was also a great album. It's right up there with Ten, in my book. Vitalogy is pretty good, too.

...and I wouldn't really call Alice in Chains a metal band. I mean, out of their 5 studio albums with the original lineup, 2 of them (Sap and Jar Of Flies) aren't even borderline metal. I would say that they have a strong metal influence, overall, and certainly a few of their songs could be described as metal songs.

Without a doubt, AiC is the more underrated band. They're one of the more underrated bands I can think of. As far as which one is my favorite...probably AiC, but not y much. Those first few PJ albums are absolutely awesome...but PJ has released a whole lot more crap. AiC's weaker material was still pretty good, and their better material was absolutely top-tier. PJ had some stuff that is absolutely iconic, but also a bunch of filler and even garbage.

just because AIC did the MTV unplugged thing, does not make them less metal.

I'm not even accounting for their Unplugged album. That's obviously its own thing.

[Edited on April 14, 2012 at 5:22 PM. Reason : i have all their albums, to include Unplugged and a live album. I assure you I'm familiar.]

yeah, hopefully siriusxm switches from "Pearl Jam radio" to "Ten radio." Actually, why not "Mad Season-Above radio?"

Jerry and Layne's vocal harmonies alone are unlike any metal band that I can think of. I'm sure it'd be a delight for some greasy, horn throwing old losers to see Jerry Cantrell guest star "That Metal Show" alongside Chris Jericho and Sabastian Bach, but I'll hold on to the notion that their music is better than that.

I think they're both great bands, two of my favorite. AIC is done now though and has been since '02. Pearl Jam still puts out some fucking stellar tunes and are still one of the best live shows to see.

Pear Jam > AiC... but I really can't stand listening to either these days. I've hit my life quota on hearing songs off Ten.

Every time either one comes on SiriusXM Lithium, the channel gets changed immediately.

That is my review.
