Where did your morals come from? Have you compromised them, etc. Discuss.

I treat others the way I think they would like to be treated, or the way I believe will benefit them the most. If this limits my own happiness to a certain degree, I will compromise.

Of course all bets are off on the internet, but I still follow this the most of the time.

Last year I bought and took home a patio set from sears for around $2300.
The next week, they called me telling me my patio set had arrived and I could pick it up any time.
I called the store, and they told me to come pick it up anyway, because the computer said it was mine.
I did the 'right' thing, and called again and spoke to a manager to explain the situation and not take furniture that wasn't rightfully mine.

Golden rule is pretty much it.

My parents taught me morals. I made them my own as fit me as I grew up.
Yes, I have compromised them.

I'm just going through life trying to be Good Guy Greg. Most of the time I fail, but it's something to aspire to.

It came from my parents and being raised as church-goer. I've left the church behind, but I internalized most of the morality. A lot of it isn't even the golden rule, it's just striving to be a good person. I feel like if I capable of a good or right action, then I should be doing said good or right thing.

I've compromised my morals before when my desire for someone allowed me to delude myself, effectively cheating on one of the best relationships I've ever experienced. The guilt of knowing that I willfully did something wrong motivates me -- along with my morals -- to continue to strive for what's positive and good.
