if the horse is tough, its no big deal

if the horse is a pussy, he might die, but you dont want your horse to be a pussy do you

not sure which type of bit that is (some kind of snaffle, i imagine), but all bits are cruel

if you can't control your horse without a bit, you have no business working with the horse

The horse looks a little pissed off, or "unhappy" in that moment.

However, it's coat and weight are in excellent condition. I'm not sure what's on it's neck (brand, or a number or something). Nothing about the harness is particularly strange.

In terms of the bit, well, can't really see how severe the bit is when it's in the horses mouth. It looks a teensy bit big for the horse, but I don't see any sores or the like, and that might just be because the picture is with him messing with it.

Are we talking about using horse drawn carriages in big cities in general? Well walking horses on pavement, even with shoes, is very hard on their feet....working them for 8-12 hours straight in the heat or cold, water? The bit would really only be a problem if the driver is abusing it....I.e. jerking on it constantly or holding the reins too tight for long periods of time. The noise mixed with the blinders on the eyes, the blinders are good for keeping the horse calm because they can't really see shit, but still imagine not being able to see and hearing horns blaring, people yelling, kids running up screaming "horsey!!!!" I mean there are worse situations though....

tend to agree... probably an argument regarding that one horse that fell dead in a city somewhere, ah shit who cares?
