Take her to brunch the week before or the week after. Mother's Day is the worst day for brunch service/food quality imaginable. 4/28/2012 9:26:24 PM

^^ I guess if you're going to Waffle House or something sure. Any restaurant with a manager worth shit knows how to prep their crew for a busy holiday. 4/28/2012 9:28:09 PM

vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
All the prep in the world can't change the fact that you can only push out good food so fast.
On top of that, you don't have to deal with acres of the kinds of people who go out to eat twice a year.
Just saying, your brunch experience will be infinitely superior a week removed from Mother's Day. 4/28/2012 9:37:47 PM

You've apparently never worked in a restaurant.
Unless you are going to some super classy or 5star place, Mothers Day is the single worst day to go out to eat.
Hell, I'm willing to bet that even Waffle House is less of a cluster fuck than most places on mothers day.
No restaurant, no matter how hard they try, unless its some reservations only place, can prepare for the shit storm that is mothers day.
Like people have said, go the day after or before, or basically any day but that day.
It is literally a fucking nightmare. 4/28/2012 9:52:18 PM

Unfortunately I have worked in restaurants Personally I think Easter is worse than Mother's Day because you get gigantic tables of 6+ tops that seem to think Easter gives them license to treat their servers like garbage. At least people seem to be marginally nicer on days like Mother's Day. Maybe they don't want to act like a dick in front of their mom.
I can honestly say I have never experienced bad service or bad food on Mother's Day. But I also make a point of going somewhere that I can get a reservation. No fucking way would I fight the crowds some place like Poole's on Mother's Day. 4/28/2012 9:55:01 PM

^I worked at a bakery/deli for a bit and I can agree with you, Easter and the Sunday crowd in general were always the worst. 4/28/2012 10:03:35 PM

I hated working the front desk at the cheesecake factory on mother's day. It was pretty much the worst day ever to work. Everyone thought they shouldn't have to wait because they were with their mother. 4/29/2012 2:09:56 PM

ooh wine is a good idea. not really into the picnic though.
question: do we pick the chicken off the bones with our fingers or are we trying to be civilized?
