I did it with champagne once and it was okay. We tried sugar packets another time when we were camping because we had nothing else. That was

Vermouth should be used in the smallest quantities possible.
Some folks make martinis by swirling vermouth in the glass and then pouring it out, even. 5/3/2012 9:02:37 PM

wow, the recipe I saw was 2 parts vodka and 1 part vermouth and that was just nasty
so I tried just a tiny splash and it was still undrinkable
maybe I should just use an eyedropper 5/3/2012 9:07:17 PM

shaking it might help...but it sounds like not that much. i would never mix it 1 to 2 fwiw. 5/3/2012 9:09:29 PM

I'm not sure there's really any need for vermouth in a vodka martini anyway. In a gin martini, it helps cut the bitterness, but that's not really an issue if your using good quality vodka. 5/3/2012 9:09:34 PM

a shot of liquor burns your throat for a few seconds as/after you drink it
a shot of absinthe seems to slowly crawl down your entire gastrointestinal tract and burns for like 5 minutes 5/3/2012 9:52:35 PM

I like gin martinis, so vermouth is an essential ingredient. Not in a 1 to 2 ratio though, wow.
I also very much like negronis. Those use sweet vermouth. They are, as of yet, the only drink I've found that uses it so I've had a bottle in my fridge for a long damn time. 5/4/2012 12:00:26 AM

I've never had anything other than the low-quality vermouth that you use for cooking, which makes many things delicious as all fuck. 5/4/2012 1:07:04 AM

Sweet or Dry Vermouth?
Sweet Vermouth goes in a Manhattan, and you'll use about a half an ounce.
Dry Vermouth is used in martinis. If someone just asks for a martini, you're suppose to do this:
Quote : | " ...swirling vermouth in the glass and then pouring it out.." |
Or pouring a little in the cocktail shaker, swirling it out, then making the martini in the same shaker.
If someone wants it really dry, then you can use about half an ounce. 5/4/2012 7:18:05 AM
