I'm sure he won't be thrown at as much, but given that he always lines up on the wide side of the field, which is where most passes are designed to go, teams can't completely abandon 2/3 of their passing plays.

INT's aren't typically that consistent from season to season, in part because they are somewhat fluky and in part because teams tend to shy away from guys who are that dangerous.

I think it's safe to say his INT's aren't just the result of being in the right place at the right time, he made some pretty spectacular plays on the ball.

If I had to guess he gets 6-7 INT's next year, and that would be a great season. If he gets 10+ again he's a freaking legend.

The only better INT specialist I've ever seen was Tete Doggystumson a player I created in Tecmo Super Bowl III and built up over ~20 simulated seasons.

That 2nd INT vs. UVA where Terrell Manning takes his helmet off and puts it quickly back on and acts like he is looking for something is PRICELESS. Can't get enough of that.

He's a pretty complete corner. He is a good tackler and is good enough against the run. I'd say he's already pretty well rounded.

The reason he got to play his freshman season was because he was one of the few people in the 2ndary who COULD tackle. I remember being very thankful on many occasions he was out there after someone got thru the front 7.

That INT he got in the UNC game was him just ball-hawking and reading mr. stare-down - renner. That was a TE who snuck thru and was Wolff's responsibility, who he was blanketing perfectly, and Amerson just went and got it. Clemson INT was the same thing, that RB was Cole's responsibility and Amerson just out jumped everyone, he's almost like a safety the way he's allowed to break responsibility if he reads the QB correctly.

Analysis: David Amerson is the rare corner with strong cover skills but with the instincts of a ball hawk. He has a great sense of how the play is developing even when his back is turned. The challenge this year will be focus as teams work away from him. Mathieu jumped on the scene last year with big plays, but he's small and needs work as a cover corner. He's a huge threat in the return game.

do you realize the numbers they were putting up before Hunter's injury? out of the major conferences it should be the best passing attack outside of USC (assuming Hunter is back 100%) PLUS we got the #1 Juco WR in the country who long jumps 21 feet. State's #1 might be able to match up against UT's #1, we will call that a push, but your #2 and #3 vs. our #2 and #3... brutal. You better get to Bray or its going to be nasty.
