With mother's day around the corner, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for buying flowers online. It seems that most of the consumer reports show that for what you order online for outrageous prices, rarely does the bouquet actually get delivered looking like what you had seen pictured. Does anyone have a particular online vendor they like to use, or others to avoid?? Or is it better to just look up a florist local to where you are going to have the flowers delivered and talk to them over the phone and place an order?

Use a local florist. Online vendors are just middle men between you and the local florist most of the time anyway.

I think alot of the online places contract through local vendors anyway, so i'd call the local places first.

^^ This. When I've gotten FTD flowers before they always came from a local florist in Durham. They've always been nice though.

Local florists are contracted out. Just make sure that if you order from FTD or proflowers that you choose a bouquet that will arrive prepared and not in a box. Most let you know upfront, but it may be tricky to find on some.

I'm giving my mom flowers in person then taking her out to brunch. With the possible exception of Christmas, its the only holiday worth flying home for.

There are always beautiful flower arrangements at the Farmer's Market. Its cheap too. I guess thats only a good suggestion if you are in Raleigh and so is your mom

I've used FTD and ProFlowers. Both are good. I usually buy vouchers for ProFlowers when Groupon or LivingSocial has them.

If I recall, FTD flowers gave me the option of choosing my florist, so I ended up just going through them directly. There are a lot of negative reviews online for that company so I didn't want to take a chance. The one time I ordered flowers online I used

http://www.abraxasfloralcreations.com/

and was pleased with their service. If I'm picking them up in person I use

http://www.angelrosesflorist.com/

who have always exceeded my expectations.
