I am looking for someone able to provide their clean and reliable truck or van from NCSU campus to Washington, DC for 2 full mattresses and back again as soon as possible.

I am willing to work with your schedule and negotiate a student-friendly price. Thank you.

Translation:

I am looking for someone to provide to me their new truck or van which I will drive by myself with no insurance from NCSU to Washington DC. I will pick up 2 full mattresses, their frames and anything else that will scratch the bed of the truck or the inside of the van.

I am willing to return later than originally scheduled, tank half empty and am willing to pay you next to nothing for the use, wear and tear and risk you take loaning me out your vehicle. Thank you.

Are you hauling stuff back? If not, just rent a Uhaul for the trip up and take the train back. The train is cheap.

You can rent a cargo van from Triangle rent a car if you're 21 or over. Not that expensive considering it's unlimited mileage. Something like $65/day I think?

Full size mattress probably wont fit in a van. Best bet is rent a pickup from enterprise or wherever.

full size mattress should fit with no problems in a cargo van.

Though, it would probably be cheaper once you consider the time aspect just to buy a new mattress.

Really this is the part that gets me. What the hell is that supposed to mean other than "I think it will be cheap because you're a student and need money". Which of course makes it unlikely such a person will own a "clean and reliable truck or van".

Either this is a horribly worded legitimate request or a thinly veiled attempt at cheating/theft. Either way its not going to fly here.

Full mattress will fit all day long in a cargo van. King might not.

I think it is fairly obvious that no one is going to let you borrow a vehicle from them
so I'm assuming that you're asking for someone to drive you to DC and back to pick up a bed

so let's say $30/hr to hire a truck
10 hours to get to DC & back
$300

plus the cost of gas
544 miles @ let's say 12 mpg for a truck
assuming $3.60 per gallon
around $163

So let's say $463

Even if you are only paying your driver $15/hr it still is going to cost $313
$263 at $10/hr

Right, there's no need to be nasty. Thanks to the people who responded who have some optimism and maybe even altruism.

To clarify, I am looking for someone reliable and mature who does not mind driving up to DC and back sometime this summer. I'm a graduate student myself and I'm just trying to utilize my options before I use Triangle, Budget or U-Haul. Early morning is preferable.

Anybody interested and able who isn't a nasty jerk, can contact me. Thanks again.
