The Bo's in Aberdeen has the best cajun sandwich combo around, according to my research.

For Mexican - La Poblanita on Highway 5 in downtown Aberdeen.

For Italian - Catarinos in SP or Rafael's in SP.

For bar food - The Bell Tree. They have an excellent veggie burger.

For shrimp & grits - Rhett's.

For crepes - Betsy's Crepe. So yummy. I recommend the Impersonator with Nutella.

What kind of food are you looking for? I may have some other suggestions.

Drive to Hickory, go to SHELL'S BBQ. Get the liver mush egg and cheese on toast.

The squire's pub is good for casual dining.

The Magnolia Inn is a nice up scale restaurant in Pinehurst. The Pinehurst country Clive is also expensive but nice for a large group. Their buffet for breakfast is excellent.

I too recommend Rhett's, the Sly Fox and Ashtens. If you drive a little farther, Ironwood Cafe is pretty great too.

Went to lob steer. Food and service both could've been better, but it wasn't bad.

We'll try something else tonight. Thanks for the suggestions.

I had lived there from 97 to 2008.

I had lived in seven Lakes West (in West End)

Where is the rental house? What's between west end and Pinehurst is a ghetto. There's a country club on the edge of Pinehurst that is technically still in Pinehust called Pinewild. Other than that there's Jackson Springs and Taylortown that are between Pinehurst and West End. Jacksonsprings is basically a redneck white trash shit hole and Taylortown is the local ghetto. The two are basically separated by hwy 211

pinesage

looked like a nice neighborhood

the whole sandhills is a shithole. i looked a house for $1000/mo or less from southern pines/pinehurst/aberdeen to raeford to laurinburg to rockingham. anyone who willingly lives down there on less than 10 acres is fucking retarded.

you know it's a shithole when the dude from wayne county says it sucks.

^^ Yeah, you live across the street from Pinewild Country Club.

I wouldn't say anyone who lives on less than 10 acres is a retard. A bit draw, at the time of its growth, was the rising home prices. Yeah, you wouldn't have much land, but you could buy a house and sell it for a sizeable profit. My parents sold their home in 2008 after the market fell and still made a profit. Had they tried selling their home 2 or 3 years earlier, they would have made bank. Most people in that area really don't care about having a ton of land.

And yeah, there are a shit ton of old people. Enjoy the hell that is 211

Imagine having to drive that road from Seven Lakes to Southern Pines/Pinehurst (to 15501) every fucking day. There is one passing lane, and it's just before Pinewild IIRC. It was hell going 40-45 mph in a 55. I did a few dumbass things out of desperation to pass on that road. Like I once passed 1 semi and 4 cars behind it in that passing lane in a 1995 Ford Windstar.
Seriously, enjoy your new found hell.

And 1000/month. Shit, I forgot how over inflated (still) home prices were in that area compared to the rest of the area.

my wife and i will both be going towards seven lakes on 211 for work. don't know if that makes a difference. they're currently doing a lot of work on this stretch of 211. looks like they're gonna make it 4 lanes with a center turning lane. still beats raleigh.

[Edited on June 16, 2012 at 8:25 PM. Reason : hell, i'll be leaving between 5 and 5:30 am for work anyway]

I hate driving to that area. No real easy way to get there and not convenient to most major highways.

All the urban sprawl and commerce there surprised me. I guess there is a good bit of money there with all the golf courses and resorts and what not.

^^^ There is a shit ton of money in Pinehurst and then a lot of middle class areas with country clubs who are serviced by poor people caddying on the golf courses.

The Country Club of North Carolina has multimillion dollar homes as are the homes along Pinehurst's golf course (especially #2).

There are a ton of a country clubs, that from the outside, you can't see shit except a gate. But they are usually packed with homes and a lot of rich/wealthy people.

this place closed (but yeah, it was good, kind of disappointed that it closed). lots of older places are gonna have a hard time as more established chains keep moving in.

Say what? From Raleigh you literally just take US1 all the way down... I mean it's not close to interstates, really, but it's not hard get to at all.

True, I'd think Sandhills would change into a 4-year university sooner or later, I've met a good amount of people who have moved into the area specifically to go there (kind of blew my mind at first)

Also, 211 is gonna suck until they finish it, they're trying to rush to get it done by the time the US Open comes... don't know if they'll make it. I miss being able to cruise about 70 on the way home from Pinehurst to West End at night on the weekends. Perfectly open and safe that time of night, but not now. Whole reason they lowered it to 45mph was someone got killed in construction traffic.
