"If you have a fear of heights, you won't want to dive into this remarkable hotel swimming pool.

The 24th storey pool in Shanghai, China, has nothing underneath it apart from a pane of toughened glass - and a huge drop.

Fortunately for those terrified of the drop, the majority of it is inside the building - although you will probably want to stay in the shallow end.

Guests using the pool can feel like they are swimming over the air say hotel bosses, although many won't dare look down.

The unique swimming baths, in the Holiday Inn hotel, Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao, are 30 metres long."

i definitely would... have always wanted to go to china before i die, so this just goes on that list!

I would, with that said, staying in the shallow end isn't going to save you when all that water gets pulled out if that notoriously shoddy Chinese build quality ever gives way.

I like how the article implied that you might want to stay in the shallow end to be safer.

It is no more safe than anywhere else in the pool.

And if that floor does give way, I sure wouldn't want to be underneath it

what they were trying to say is that the shallow end is inside the building and doesn't have the glass bottom, so those who are afraid of heights might want to stay at that end.

reading comprehension is difficult, i know.

right, and whats already been stated is that it wont matter if that shit gives way. no matter where you are in the pool you're fucked

which I dont believe looking at the size of the pool and how its sectioned, I think you'd be safe in teh shallow end

I was trying to come up with a spider analogy for my next point.

But then I gave up.

hell yes i would.

people that'd be afraid of swimming in this are probably also the people who walk around drainage grates on the sidewalk.

I think I'd be fine swimming in this. Looks gorgeous. In Chicago, they have a glass floor in the Hancock Observatory. I think it was the 95th floor, and that was easy to walk around on, once you actually took the first step onto the glass.

Unfortunately for them, if that glass ever fails catastrophically (i.e. drops out or shatters), everyone swimming in that pool will be diving down onto the sidewalk, even those swimming in the indoor half

With a decent telephoto lens this would make for quite the photo op.
