Like/dislike? How do you eat yours? I like a little butter and some salt on mine but really I'll eat them almost any way. I love grits.

I can eat them any way

Salt and pepper, butter and cheese, shrimp or sausage, etc

Also like them with butter and sugar, that's how I always used to eat them as a kid.

That's like saying rice is delicious because you can cover it in delicious hibachi style food, or pasta is yummy because you can cover it in a nice red sauce. Grits themselves are flavorless and have an awful texture. I've lived in the south for 21 years now and not once have I had grits that actually tasted good.

LOVE grits. They're great alone and a universal breakfast condiment. My favorite way to eat them is on an egg and cheese sandwich, but i also like to cut up a link or two of apple maple sausage into plain grits.

Rice, pasta and grits are all flavorless without at least adding salt to the water you cook them in.

^^^ sounds like you just eat shitty grits. Slow cooked stone ground grits are delicious on their own.

I've had them at nice restaurants, people's homes, and bad restaurants. Never once have I thought they were good.

Granted, it's been about 10 years since I've had them, but the first 10 times somebody said, "come on, try these, they're good" I tried them and didn't care for them. At some point you just realize you don't care for a certain food and stop eating it.

I ♥ them, especially when they congeal so much they become gelatinous and easily eaten with a fork.

Whenever I say "that pasta was delicious", I mean that the pasta based dish was delicious, just as I will say grits are delicious in various preparations. I don't really understand your argument.

I don't know how I feel about sweet grits, though I guess it wouldn't be much different from cream of wheat.

With smoked gouda, a little salt, a little pepper, and maybe a touch of hot sauce. Likely just the cheese.

The only time I've ever heard of sugar in grits was in a Fleming and John song. Otherwise, it's just unheard of.

You like to eat your grits with butter, salt, and sugar
You drink your coffee instant and black

^^ Back when I would commute to Salisbury from Raleigh, I would sometimes stop at Biscuitville to get their grits bowl. Grits, bacon, eggs, and cheese in a bowl with a biscuit on the side
