This organization is terrible. And one one should ever donate to them.

They stopped being a non-profit years ago, and now they are just in the business of marketing and making money.

Would you like to know what percentage of their "non-profits" went to actual research towards curing breast cancer in 2009?

4/5ths of the money went to operating costs, advertising, and paying the million dollar salaries of those who run it.

This is a corrupt organization who sues people who try to use the word "pink" and "cure," and let's not forget how they dropped Planned Parenthood.

If you plan on raising $1000, you might as well just only raise $200 and donate it directly to a cancer research center. It'd just cut out the middle(wo)man.

God layin' down some truth in here, Komen has come under a lot of flak for their shady structuring, payroll, and use of charity funds. The cause is worthwhile but this charity organization is not.

You should donate money to the V Foundation for Cancer Research instead 100% of your donations are used to fund research.

I'm not down with Komen at all, and this was way before planned parenthood.

You know who else you shouldn't support? Livestrong....they're the same deal. All money goes to marketing and paying a staff.

We are working on doing a run in October, so do that one.

While Komen is not the best charity to put your money in, this is misleading hyperbole (and some of it untrue).

In 2009, $241,415,919 went to program expenses, and total revenue was $267,221,759, meaning administrative costs were $25,805,840. That gives an overhead of 9.7%, which is pretty good. 20% might have gone to research, but fundraising and other programs were another 70.3%.

CEO salary in 2011 was $417,171. Way too much, but not the million dollar number you mentioned.
