I live near Crabtree Mall in an older neighborhood with lots of hills. About twice a week a deep rumbling happens for a few seconds. It starts off deep and distant and right when things start to rattle a bit abruptly stops.
The first time it happened I thought it was a mini earthquake, but there was nothing I looked online...I moved here in January and it has happened randomly as long as I have lived here.
I'm not too far from the Quarry off Duraleigh Rd but sometimes these rubles happen at 7 or 8 at night, later than I would think they would be blasting.
Does anyone think my house is going to spontaneously be swallowed by a sink hole? 6/11/2012 6:57:00 PM |

Have you set up anything to try to monitor them?
Even if you simply put a marker hanging by a string over paper, I would think it would be able to chart it. 6/11/2012 7:14:23 PM |

Are you near any train tracks?
When you first described it, it sounds like they are blasting at the quarry, but not at 7 or 8 at night. Vibrations can travel a long way in rock formations. 6/12/2012 9:02:18 AM |

There are always mini earthquakes but the usgs doesn't pick them up or else there would be too much noise in the system. that area has always rumbled which is why many have predicted the entire mall will collapse.7/20/2012 11:29:14 AM |
