So I dropped my iPad and it now has a slight dent in the side and the volume button is stuck. The volume icon is stuck in the middle of the screen. I googled it and apparently it costs around $350 from the apple store. This is a work owned iPad so it's not technically mine but I'm responsible for any damages. We got them around March so I'm not sure if the warranty is still valid or if I can even use it since I didn't personally buy it. Repairzoom.com charges $89.99 to fix this problem specifically. Anybody have any experience with them? Any other options? My husband briefly tried prying it out with a knife and razor blade but it didn't work. He didn't want to try in between the glass for fear of cracking it. 6/11/2012 8:59:29 PM |

1. Buy a used iPad of the same type.
2. Back up the work iPad.
3. Restore it onto that other iPad.
4. Wipe the busted iPad and use it as your own.
5. problem solved, also you now have a broken iPad to call your own 6/11/2012 9:03:17 PM |

Not interested in spending a ton of money, plus the work iPad has the company info printed on the back of it. 6/11/2012 9:17:55 PM |

Take it to the Apple Store. At least then you will have options. If you only bought it 3 months ago, it is still under warranty. Although, I don't think the standard warranty covers accidental breakage. Anyway, you might get lucky/get a nice service tech who will ignore the rules and give you a free replacement. It's worth a shot anyway. 6/11/2012 10:30:30 PM |
