Which would you prefer, assuming you couldn't download for free?

stream 4 life

though really it's about subscribing vs owning...since you don't have to stream with Spotify for example, you can download it and listen to it whenever (through their service)

I haven't stolen any music since signing up for Spotify

It's not perfect, but it's good enough

Personally speaking, I don't see a point in owning any more. If I can stream/download anything I want, for $5/month, or $10 a month including mobile devices (Spotify's prices), I don't see the point in buying albums anymore. No matter where I'm at, I can listen to anything I want, assuming I have network connection. And if I don't, I can still listen to playlists I've downloaded.

I just downloaded a hack for my Pandora app that allows for unlimited skips, gets rid of all the ads and allows you to download the songs as mp3s so you can play them offline. That really does seem like the best of both worlds, IMO.

Same, and I like to own it on CD. I don't dig lossy formats.

^^ Some of that, too...I have a couple of boxes of old vinyl, but I'm not looking to spend the money on new or perfectly pristine stuff until I get a really badass record player. Right now, I have an old Denon DP45F.
