Does anyone know of any water playgrounds in the triangle area? Something like pictured below. The city/town I lived in in KS had a bunch of them and I was wanting to take my kids to some around here (rather than some public pool)

Waverly Place has a "splash pad" in their new playground area. Cary YMCA has one as does Bartley Park. Forest Hills Park in Durham. Lake Johnson.
I'm sure there's more but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head. 6/15/2012 2:26:04 PM |

I take my son to the Millbrook Exchange Park.....
There is a playground + a large toddler wading pool. I love it and he does too.
I hear there is on at Lake Johnson also somewhere near Athens depending on where you live. 6/16/2012 10:49:53 PM |

I must have missed the "splash pad" at Waverly. It's down by that small fenced off playground then? It must be really new, I don't remember seeing anything like that a few weeks ago. I know they've got those fountains all over the place.
My friend told me about some small water park with slides somewhere out Buffaloe Rd. IIRC. I'll have to touch base with him and ask were it was. 6/18/2012 9:16:46 AM |

They may have had it turned off. I know my friend said she went when they first opened the playground and noticed they had installed a splash pad. It would be pretty lame if they didn't have it functioning 6/18/2012 12:53:11 PM |

I was just at waverly place this morning and noticed the signs saying something about a splash pad. It must be that area closest to the fountains in the fenced in playground. There are metal plates in the ground that look like lights so that must be it. It's not very big. I'm not even sure they are functional.
I didn't see any information about when and if they operate the splash pad... 6/18/2012 1:13:38 PM |

It's hard for me to imagine that they'd have it running for any appreciable amount of time. It's a small playground to begin with and Waverly is still 90% deserted. 6/18/2012 2:18:07 PM |

Waverly was surprisingly busy this past Saturday considering what few shops are in there. Hopefully that's a sign of continued improvement. 6/18/2012 2:23:26 PM |
