Dan Allen was always a clusterfuck during school hours between all the pedestrian traffic & bus stops. If it's still like that today then this makes sense to me.

It doesn't make sense at all actually. If anything the gate should be at Hillsborough Street as this location prevents traffic to the Dan Allan Deck from Western Blvd side (the side in which a majority of commuting students reside). That would be the logical thing to do seeing as the deck has a second entrance on the side road by Zaxby's and cutting through the deck to get between Hillsborough and Western is a stupid idea that would deter the people looking for a faster route than Pullen or Gorman.

The gates will be on either side of the railroad bridge. Just means you have to enter from Hillsborough to reach the deck.

The point still stands that every student off Trailwood/Lineberry will no longer be able to take Avent Ferry to Western to Dan to the Deck but rather face 9 more lights with German/Pulled and Hillsborough. The ideal solution to eliminate through traffic is placing the gate at Hillsborough.

I could care less since I'm not a student anymore, or that's what I thought until I realized oh fucking god the traffic will be so bad.


Also, have you guys seen the new chances to Hillsborough on the previously ghetto side? Since the Valentine student housing project went up, they repaved Hillsborough from Brooks Avenue all the way to Gorman/Faircloth, and they "fixed" the lanes. The right lane on Hillsborough coming from Blue Ridge towards Gorman--the lane where you have to merge for it to become one lane after Gorman--that no longer exists. Right lane is right turn only BEFORE the light, and left lane continues on as the sole lane. There's actually a median to block the right lane from continuing on. It might be clusterfucky for a while as people learn, but ultimately it improves road flow a lot. Hillsborough on that side is now one lane both ways. The west-bound right lane is a right turn only at Cup A Joe, et cetera.

Most importantly though, no more fucking potholes.

How does it not Ernie? The only Dan Allan side deck entrance is North of the Bridge/Gate and thus all deck traffic will have to enter from Hillsborough side via either Pullen Rd on the east or Gorman st on the west, roads with multiple lights before hitting Dan Allen. This is a nightmare solution to an imagined problem.
