She was adorable, and I love anyone who -- like Amy Pond and Donna -- can dish it back to the Doctor.

I think the overall effect of that episode should have some far-reaching implications for the season, but I can't think of how. Oh well. "Dinosaurs...on a spaceship!"

Loved the new companion. She was very much like The Doctor. Should be interesting to see how she becomes his companion. And hopefully it'll get away from the current formula they're using with the Ponds. (Isolate Rory from the group, put Amy's life in danger)

Ya, it got sort of heavy-handed, but I liked it. Sometimes I wish for the David Tennant anger of "You do not fuck with my friends." Consequently, my girl and I joked about how strange the Doctor would be if he cursed, "Who Am I? I'm the Doc-goddamn-tor. A fucking time lord. Here to save all of your sorry asses. Geronimo!"

Is it me or is the Doctor a little less forgiving this season?

He openly let that guy die from the missile in this one and he killed a bunch of those crazy daleks in the last episode. I know they are the bad guys and all but typically the doctor does not intentionally kill ANYTHING, right? Maybe I'm just remembering things differently. Normally, he'd be happy to just take them to a prison or maroon them on a planet or something.

First episode with David Tennant he kills the Sycorax leader proclaiming that he doesn't give second chances.

While that is a regeneration ago I don't think he's lost that mindset for someone who has committed a terrible act against another group and his friends.

Also the crazy Daleks he actually tried to avoid but he was thrown at the planet which I think upset him a bit, combined with Amy losing the ward and slowly losing herself

Also, the Doctor's not a pacifist. He'll try to avoid direct conflict/harm if possible, but he's not going to sacrifice his own life to do so. He also doesn't use guns, but he's all to happy to let someone destroy himself and any accompanying baddies, hoisted by his own petard and whatnot. He didn't shoot or disable any of the daleks; he let the one self-destruct and sent it at his buddies.

I guess I just thought it was out of character for him to let that guy die but then again that guy killed all the lizard guys who were in suspended animation so that might qualify as being bad enough. I just think of a few seasons ago when the Master did all sorts of messed up stuff including death and destruction and after the Doctor saved the day he simply whispered "I forgive you" in his ear.

lately he's been more about killing bad guys than saving them

he won't go out of his way to exterminate an entire race (he didn't kill all of the Daleks in that episode, and they were forcing him to destroy the crazy ones), usually

but the dude on that ship killed thousands of Silurians all for a profit, so fuck him

I didn't really like the statue of liberty being used as an angel...with all those people in NY, someone is sure to always be looking, and wouldn't it be noticed if she had moved?

Where was "Angels Take Manhattan" in River's time stream? I can't remember if they called her Doctor or Professor at any point so it makes it difficult. Here's what I've worked out so far:

Born at Demon's Run...raised in orphanage...turns into Mels...turns into River..."kills" doctor in Utah...many prison escapes for date nights (Jim the Fish, Winter Frost Festival, etc)...revisits Demon's Run to reveal who she really is...Pandorica...Byzantium...granted pardon...final date with Doctor where he gives her his screwdriver...Library.

Between Manhattan and Byzantium in which does she have better knowledge of the Angels?
