So this evening I was putting a couple of things in the attic. I saw a shadow of something and I looked up and quickly saw something fly to the other side of the attic. I looked where it flew and didn't see anything. This was around dusk, so not really sure if it was a bird or bat, but trying to figure out what to do.

I went back up looking for signs of it being a bat and didn't see anything. What do you guys think? Do I need to get animal control over here?

bats shit a lot.. or they are in the house we're doing renovations in. i don't know exactly why but they recommended leaving them til they had babies, which i think they did recently. anyways, yeah i'd call somebody if you hear them (they're pretty noisy during the day) and see little pellets of crap all over the ground

get a couple of large floor lights, like you would use when painting a room or working in the shop and plug them in. Bats go to dark places – if your attic is well lit the bats won’t want to be there.

then when you're sure there's no bats up there, install some screens on your gable vents so they can't come back.

And bats carry mites that could find their way into your house and into your bed.

Whatever you do don't let the bats in your house Somehow a bat was in our house. We have no idea how long it was in or how it got in. But turns out the bat had a rabies, and even though my wife or I were not bitten the health department wanted us to get the post exposure rabies vaccine, which is NOT cheap

Bats can carry some pretty bad diseases. My girlfriend had a whole fucking bat colony living above her bedroom in the attic. Got the landlord to exterminate them with the quickness.

Fuck bats. If they'd do a little better job of eating mosquitos, I'd have a little sympathy for them. But they are some ugly, nasty little fuckers.
