Found at Swift Creek Shopping Center (Jones Franklin/Tryon Roads).

Black and tan chihuahua I assume, appears to be a few years old, or maybe just ragged from being lost.

Has a collar but no tags; apparently no microchip either. Believe it's a female; missing hair on back and other spots, so she's seen some rough days.

Located at my vet office. Sorry for lack of more information and bad picture - I took her there and had to leave immediately.

I cannot take her in right now. I am leaving town tonight, so if someone could help "foster" her, that would be great. Or if anyone has rescue/shelter suggestions. I don't care for the WCAS since they're a kill shelter; SPCA won't answer the phone and I don't think they take in strays...?

How long are you going to be out of town? The SO is not a fan of small dogs but I could probably talk him into putting up with her for the weekend.

I'd fill out a found pet form. You'd be surprised how many pets get reunited from this list: http://www.wakegov.com/pets/lost/default.htm

^yeh, just saw that one. ad says male; but the lady who was helping me catch this dog said it was a female... (the lady wrapped the dog in a shirt, and I hurried the dog to my vet because I was already late for a very important meeting... feel bad for not getting more info at the time or checking things out). my vet is supposed to be contacting me once they check the dog out.

Now that I think back on it, I remember nipples, almost like they were swollen from infection or maybe recent birth. Forgot about that detail... so pretty sure female now

Male dogs have nipples just like you

And according to Google dehydration can cause them to become distended/infected Never knew that!

Just fired off a mass email to multiple organizations - but most of them seem to have a no stray from general public policy.

I don't know what to do.

vet is running some tests, dewormer, skin scrape, bath etc.

I'm paying for these basic steps, but I cannot keep her. Someone please take her in, at least until I can get back.

If my dog didn't fear other dogs I'd watch her over the weekend. I bet someone in Chit Chat that never ventures over here might be interested.

Well, she likely has fleas, worms, skin infection/fungus. Vet will treat for all of that, but I'm sure she'll need to be isolated for a little bit

Called the lady who was helping to catch the dog. She's going to call around as well.
